Over Forty Years of Westgate Neighborhood History

Westgate Subdivision has a long history, stretching back into the 1980's. We've always been a voluntary-participation organization, but that doesn't mean we haven't made a big difference in the lives of our neighbors.

When Powder Springs went from two lanes to five lanes in the late 80's, Westgate HOA had to remove the sign at the front of our neighborhood to make room. This brought heavy traffic through our area, leading to several collisions at Powder Springs and County Services Road.

Our HOA petitioned and won the addition of a stoplight at that intersection, which drastically reduced the danger of traffic on Powder Springs Road in front of our main entrance.

Westgate HOA also voted on, paid for, and implemented street lights throughout our neighborhood to increase nightime visibility and safety.

Through the years, Westgate residents have prevented school district rezoning, commercial rezoning of residential property, and preserved historic landmarks now part of the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park through powerful petitions that were presented at Cobb County meetings.

These measures, and many more, have left an unmistakeable positive impact not only on the region, but it has also improved the property value of each of our individual homes.

"While most HOA's carry a stigma of enforcing arbitrary rules, we aim to empower, connect, and support our neighbors. We hope to continue to do so for another forty-plus years."

Special Thanks to Our Previous Board Members, Diana Brehm Williams and Leonard Holcombe, for 40 years of humble service to our Westgate HOA.
